THE RESERVATION BASED ON CASTE

Long ago, I met a similar-aged guy, we started playing cricket and we became good friends. Later we parted because of his officer dad’s transfer to a different town. We didn’t use to have Facebook those days, so we lost touch. A couple of years back, I got a friend request from him. On going through his profile I found him to be a student of M.N.N.I.T., Bhopal. We became friends on the virtual world and then while chatting one day, he told me that he had to appear for the 10th boards twice because of not being able to clear it in one go. Even I could recall him to be a dull scholar. He went on to further reveal that the reason he made it to one of the N.I.T.s was a ‘Quota’ factor. I had no option but to offer him a so-called congratulation.
Most of us have faced the pros and cons of caste reservation. Some call it an ill because it has done no good to them. Some call it bless, perhaps it has put them on the thrones of glory!

I just impelled some of my amigo men and ladies across AKGEC, to bring in my account their reviews on the factor of caste reservation. There goes what each one has to say…

mai reservation k against nahi hu but it should be for needy only...agar koi choti tribe se aaya b hai n wo self sufficient hai then what is the need for reservation? .i think financially week quota, third gender quota should definitely be there but sc quota, st quota, obc quota then should be demolished…”

“We live in an era, which we call as the modern one and we raise our voices today against the wrong. We are also going against the caste system of our society so why not stop caste reservation! Removing all the sources of caste discrimination is the only solution of getting equal rights everybody should b treated as equal.”

“According to me caste reservation was brought into the system because everything was decided on the basis of caste for e.g. if u are a pandit u can enter a temple and if u r a Dalit not only u are banned from entering into the temples but also they were not allowed to drink water from the well from which other people would drink so back in those days it was not a good solution but it was a feasible solution which could bring in equality among all the people But now a days this isn’t a good solution solution as the people who aren’t under any reservation general category are facing the problems whether its field of education or any other field undeserving candidates get better opportunities than deserving candidates i am not saying that candidates having reservation are not deserving problem is due to this caste reservation ppl are getiing into IITs IIMS and other institutes just because their cut off is low and seats are reserved for them and moreover jats and gujjar people are now demanding reservation which is not at all a step on the progress of the nation according to me its now time to bring some modification to the system which was brought in by Dr B.R. Ambedkar He was right at his place in his time But now the times have changed still some people are there which do believe in caste system people should change their thinking. Change starts with us and ends with us.”

“According to me we can’t directly say that its good or bad.
Basically the reservation system started with the aim of bringing the equality in the Indian system. If we ask our parents when they were young most of the government post were occupied by only the upper caste people basically brahmins , khastriyas , Lalas etc. and the lower caste people were basically not in the picture . They didn’t had the opportunity of growing. So the Indian govt brought the reservation system in action so that every Indian get an equal opportunity.
But many are against this. the only problem is that there should be one type of discrimination done in the reservation system is that if someone is of the reserved category there need to be a system which decide that if there annual income is above certain limit there is n o reservation for them since they are capable of getting good education and facilities so no need to give them any reservation.  Finally according to me if someone needs to get reservation is poor people who can’t sent there children to good school or coaching. Those who cant fill there belly how can they study. So these people need to get the reservation not just u belong to other caste & you get all the benefits.”

“In my opinion.. reservation should be given to poor people.. You know wat abhi bhi society me discrimination hai.. general people, agr tum academic and job area se alag hatke baat kro toh... kya lower cast society accept karti h??
general jitni respect nhi milti lower cast ko... or jo reservation bhi milta h uspe ladte hai... agr reservation hatana h toh atleast unko proper society me respect milni chaiye..!!! and i am also against in reservation but a part of me is in the favour of reservation!! but in academic area.. all candidate should be treated equally... this is all i considered to share with you!”
-Geetanjali Rohilla (EC 3rd Year, Awarded by the central H.R.D. Minister)

When I got to know their views, I decided to have one of my own as well.

“Reservation in literal sense means that you get something because you are worth it. It means that you have acquired a stage that you need not to contest to achieve something. Is caste reservation going the same way? Is it giving the rights to those who are worth it? An officer’s son graduates from a reputed institute not because of his charisma, but because of his creed. Isn’t this a troubling truth? When a failure during the school days becomes a figure during the college days, just because of his caste inheritance, its something indigestible. If at all you need to provide a level of comfort, provide it to those who are deprived and not to those who are developed!”
